Vatican Analog

Copyright? Whatever.

Your favorite boys from Vatican Analog are in Berlin right now, enjoying the clouds, german beer and tonight the 20 Years of Sudden Infant party. Like the whole world we are shocked by the conviction of the Pirate Bay guys, we didn`t sleep last night because of it and we hope tonight we can finally eat again… It`s like something inside of us suddenly died.

Because we don`t really care about copyright, about who copies what and who fucks other people over (we just give it away), this is something for you all to enjoy:

Preliminary Saturation – Cigarettes and Sandpaper

Please comment, because then we will post all the AC/DC albums, the last Metallica one and if you`re lucky also that terrible Best Of album from Krezip… pfff.

Monolithic

Monolithic is the norwegian two-headed audial monster consisting of Stian Westerhus (Jaga Jazzist, Puma, etc) on baritonguitar and Kenneth Kapstad (Motopsycho and previous member of Dadafon and Animal Alpha) on drums. This freaky creation delivers an incredably infernal racket with their stripped down instrumentation – a duo making this much sound really doesn’t make any sense. For those of us that’s been so lucky to experience Monolithic as an audiencemember know that this is like beeing draged thourgh an infamous amount of audial rollercosters – through insane industral metal to shattering low-key freejazz – with both members going absolutly balistics!

Check out their stuff here.

20 years of Sudden Infant

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgCx11CMd6o]

The year of 2009 doesn’t only mark the year of 200 years Tilburg, or 90 years since British Indian Army troops opened fire on a peaceful gathering at the Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar, Punjab, India, killing hundreds of unarmed men, women and children, but it also marks 20 years of Sudden Infant. Joke Lanz, who founded this milestone in noise/experimental music has been around as an experimental musician for 20 years and this needs to have its personal celebration. This weekend we from Vatican Analog will catch a plane to Berlin to party with Joke and his friends at Ausland. Because he made such great work over the years its difficult to post something which gives you’ll a good impression of what he exactly does, but we give it a try:

Yellow suits him well…

Last week, we from VA booked filmmaker / musician Scott Foust together with Frans de Waard to play a show in Tilburg as the Tabacconists. It was an interesting show, where a lot of different musical genres were combined to different freak-drone pieces. Scott Foust will still be in Europe for the next 2 weeks: the last show on the continent is a screening of his new movie Here’s To Love! at Bozar in Brussels on April 24, followed by a show of The Tobacconists at Divus Gallery in London on the 25, and a screening of Here’s To Love! and a performance of The Four Accomplishments on April 26 at the same venue. By the way: Scott’s style is too cool for school, on the picture above you see him in his yellow combination.

Found this great psychedelic piece called Ditmas Park from the book/cd Urban Birds by Timothy Shortell. For your easter listening pleasure…

Other movies include: Ovo, Michael Wertmüller & Marino Pliakas, Heifetz, Sten Ove Toft and many others!
